BDP Philadelphia Airport and Houston (Rankin Road) USA Award Winners

In May 2009, three BDP US employees will be presented with Outstanding Customer Service - Team Dedication awards for their above and beyond Customer Service Solutions for a large and urgent air export shipment to a high profile customer in Argentina:

BDP Service Excellence Story – A Team Effort!
BDP’s Jillian Rhodus booked a large, urgent air export shipment to Argentina on a passenger flight with US Airways based on the original dimensions (61” high) provided by the US exporter, the Sartomer Company, Inc.


The actual freight received at the BDP Houston warehouse measured 66” high. The shipment as is would no longer fit on the passenger plane as booked; instead, the shipment would need to be trucked from Houston to Miami, and rebooked for a later flight – resulting in material delays for the consignee, National Starch & Chemical S.A. Argentina, and additional costs to Sartomer.

BDP’s Michael Vick, Warehouse Manager-Houston (Rankin Road)-US took the initiative to contact Sartomer, where he advised the freight situation and proposed a solution. The freight needed to be reduced to 64” high in order to accommodate the passenger flight as originally booked. With Sartomer’s approval to break down the existing pallets at the BDP Houston warehouse, Mike went ahead and reconfigured 14 skids to 17 skids – reducing the overall shipment height.

Jane was instrumental in securing a great spot rate and space from the airline in addition to retransmitting the AES submission on Saturday when AES was down the day before. Jane always takes care of the details with her thorough and timely follow-up.

Jillian is the BDP Sartomer account coordinator who processes Sartomer’s daily air export shipments. Overall, Jillian consistently delivers great customer service on this account.

This team went “above and beyond” to service Sartomer and National Starch & Chemical with this specific shipment – a true collective effort here. Thank you!
