Outstanding Customer Service - Team Dedication
Award Winners

Ten (10) BDP Asia Pacific colleagues were recognized with Outstanding Customer Service - Team Dedication awards in November 2008 for sharing their extended knowledge and time creating the BDP PowerPoint advisories related to the handling of dangerous goods prior to and during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Not only were the slides shared internally within BDP, they also caught the attention of the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council (DGAC) in Washington, DC-US, in addition to reaching and assisting numerous BDP and non-BDP clients around the globe.

Tom Helk, BDP’s Manager, Hazardous Materials/Export Compliance – Philadelphia, nominated Jeroen Rozendal of the BDP Shanghai office for an Outstanding Customer Service / Employee Dedication Award based on the following sentiments:

“Jeroen is the person responsible for providing the PowerPoint slides about The Beijing Olympics to the BDP organization, which in turn were passed on to our many customers. These slides have helped our clients to plan for the delays that freight could encounter in China during the Olympic Games.

I did post these slides through our Association -the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council in Washington (DGAC), and these slides reached companies and associations around the world. Even our own Government, the Department of Transportation used these BDP slides on their web site, to keep the public informed.

BDP received an inquiry from a large German Chemical Manufacturers Association, who noticed our slides on the DGAC web site, wanting to be contacted by BDP Asia, for possible future logistics cooperation.

BDP clients and the DGAC expressed gratitude to me for providing these slides.

One of our clients, Thermo Fisher Scientific in Pittsburgh, explained to me that when Thermo Fisher contacted their Chinese customers and suppliers about the situation in China during the Olympic games, most of the Chinese companies did not respond; however, those that did respond to Thermo Fisher, responded by Sending BDP's PowerPoint presentation to Thermo Fisher. Thermo Fisher had these slides already from the DGAC web site, and from myself. It showed this client that the BDP organization is more than just a Freight Forwarder, that BDP is a total service provider.

Also, attached is a copy of an e-mail that I received from another client, and a copy of the minutes of the DGAC Board of Directors Meeting from August 21, 2008, where BDP was recognized for providing the above mentioned Powerpoint slides.

Thanks to Jeroen's dedication and diligent work to collect and publish this information, the BDP organization was introduced to many companies around the globe that would otherwise not have heard of us. The work of Jeroen has made BDP a more respected Partner for our existing clients, and a much more respectable and desirable Logistics provider for potential new customers.”

This is how wonderful to see this at the beginning of the day. The feeling is so good to know something be recognized for what we did. The award is small but the echo from outside is BIG! We are really proud of it! Thanks again.

Dear Tom, I don't know how to express my appreciation to you, my strong feeling is we have to have someone like you in the world to recognize if someone really did something good. Thanks a lot and again.

This award is very much appreciated. Tom, thank you for nominating me for the award. And I also speak on behalf of the rest of the team, Gary & Dick who initiated and supported the issuing of the Advisory, realizing the whole world watching at China and wanting to know what is and will be happening; the department and office members in China who on a day to day basis are challenged by a rapidly changing environment and ‘rules’ by which to conduct business, many times changes occur without formal announcement and without notice period. We also realized there are much larger companies out there, competing with us, DHL and Schenker being the nominated forwarders for the Olympics and having more easy access to information. Our aim was to be at the forefront and providing the best information and guidance to our customers. With this background it is a joy and honor that the effort is recognized on the other side of the globe.

Susanne, without you organizing this it may go unnoticed whereas now it will be an effort that the team will be reminded of, realizes the importance within the network and to our customers. Thank you so much!

Let us keep on doing it, making the largest mark possible and pushing well above our size! Thank you.
