SABIC Innovative Plastics Testimonial, May 2010

Dear Mike,

Please accept this letter as our sincere thank you for the great staff that both you and Josh Watson [BDP Regional Manager-Business Development] have built in our Huntersville, NC-US office.

As you know, and due to the ocean market environment, the 1st 4 months of 2010 has been quite challenging in the area of obtaining ocean bookings, container availability, and actually having our U.S. Exports loaded onto vessels.

Dan Stoffler has done a tremendous job collaborating with our leadership team, and their staff, to develop alternative methods to quickly get our product booked and loaded onto vessels along with reasonable transit times.

Dan’s leadership is well appreciated and, at this time, we want to recognize Dan and the following individuals on his staff that developed many extra off-business hours to execute necessary action plans to meet our needs.

Those individuals are:

Kristin Smith has effectively handled our Burkville location. The majority of her normal day had been spent managing the challenging open market changes. With the increased complexity and communications required, the physical
processing of orders was pushed to later part of the day. This ultimately created late work nights and long weekends for Kristin. She readily gave up her personal time to handle increased volume of effort while continuing to produce at a high error free level.

Josh Harrelson handles our Mt. Vernon and Selkirk facilities and faced similar challenges. His commitment came with early mornings, long nights, and weekend efforts as well. We understand that he has accepted additional responsibilities to help stabilize the team and always approaches each task with a “can do” attitude. His communication efforts with our team are greatly appreciated as he balanced the utilization of west coast versus east coast services.

Vicki Coleman as I understand, is very significant to your entire export team. Her dedication and constant attention to details are well appreciated. Vicki ensures that daily challenges are controlled and that BDP personnel continue to perform at an extremely high level. In additional to her service commitment, she considers in advance how actions impact cost to SABIC IP, thus she has helped to prevent a number of costly issues by solving the complexity of container equipment, and shifting to alternate carrier and/or service changes. She is also quite effective managing and controlling the entire document process during the same time period.

We thank everyone mentioned for their commitment to BDP and SABIC Innovative Plastics. SABIC IP will soon invite Dan, Kristin, Josh, and Vicki to a congratulatory luncheon where we will present them with our Certificates of Appreciation.

We would appreciate if you can also take the time to recognize and congratulate your staff on a job well done.

Note that we’re not “out of the woods yet”, but we are on the right track to be successful for the remainder of 2010. Please encourage your team to keep up the good work and high standards they have set.

Sincerely yours,

Vincent Gamba - Global Transportation Sourcing Leader

"Rich Bolte, BDP International President & CEO and I believe that Jay should be nominated and recognized for a BDP Recognized Service Excellence award. The following testimonial from Mike Andaloro, Managing Director - Asia Pacific, BDP International sums up crisply the value that Jay continues to add to BDP each and every day. He is the ‘go to’ person for so many initiatives and as Mike has stated below, his ‘can do’ attitude is contagious. He does want he says he will do, is consummate professional and is a key IT leader."

Stephen Zimmerman - Global Chief Information Officer
BDP International, Inc.
.

Hello Stephen,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to express my appreciation for the work put forward by Jay Coulbourne. He has been absolutely fantastic to work with as we rolled out the Tietan system to Vietnam,Saudi Arabia, India and parts of Singapore. He definitely has a 'can do' attitude, stays up late to join all of the calls with Asia (and actually executes on the action items immediately afterwards) and does so without complaint. In short, he correctly views his role as an integral part of the business and carries out his work in this fashion. His contribution and attitude are both noted and appreciated by the teams here in Asia Pacific.

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to express these views. Thanks and have a good one.

One BDP
Submitted by Kathy Crowe, General Manager - BDP Indianapolis, US
Released in the BDP DataDayPlus newsletter (May 5, 2010)

One one Wednesday morning, we, on the Harman International team in Indianapolis, IN, experienced the true meaning of One BDP.

Around 8:00 am, we were made aware of an urgent shipment that needed to arrive in Germany as early as possible the next day. The freight was so hot that Harman would not allow the freight to ship via guaranteed overnight courier service. They were in need of a hand carry. The freight [at the supplier's location] in Fort Worth, TX had not yet been produced. After multiple phone calls and lots of possible flight schedules, we decided we needed the help of our BDP Dallas office.

We owe many thanks to BDP Dallas Office Manager, Jane Zellers. Jane dropped everything to assist us with this urgent hand carry for our customer, Harman International.
Jane travelled to Forth Worth, TX to retrieve the freight, headed home to pack a bag and hopped on a plane destined for Munich, Germany. In my opinion, this is an amazing example of teamwork and dedication among our BDP Family.
.
Many thanks to all involved for making our customer's request possible. We were once again a successful BDP Team!

BDP People Shine with new Pharmaceutical Life Sciences business.

BDP Outstanding Customer Service - Team Dedication Award Winners

  • Chris Karu, Air Gateway Manager - BDP Los Angeles-US
  • Mike Castro, Logistics Coordinator - BDP Philadelphia-US

"Thus far our BDP Los Angeles Gateway and Air Operations, as well as our destination Operations [in New Zealand and Malaysia], exceeded the expectations of Merck/EMD. A huge Thank You goes to Chris Karu and Mike Castro for making this happen."
Michael Mehlmann, Director of Americas Supply Chain - BDP International, Inc.

Excellent Opportunity to Shine
BDP International's Mike Mehlmann provided David Thai, Manager, Logistics & Distribution – EMD Chemicals, Inc. with a “quick recap” of three air export shipments that arrived destination as booked. Mike said, “No issues to report thus far. All documentation has also been posted to BDP Smart for immediate review.”

"BDP International's Chris Karu and Mike Castro really impressed a new customer with great potential to get our Pharmaceutical Life Sciences business sector off the ground."
Amy Metzger, CHB, Director, Air Transportation,
Pricing and Tender Management the Americas – BDP International, Inc.

In turn, BDP received this reply and compliment from EMD-

Steven Picado - BDP Chicago, USA

Gateway Manager, BDP North America-US-Chicago, IL
BDP Employee Dedication Award Winner

Mike Connors, Director, Charlotte Region - BDP Charlotte and Amy Metzger, CHB, Director- Air Transportation, Pricing and Tender Management the Americas – BDP Phila Airport elevated Dan Stoffler's testimonial for Recognized Service Excellence consideration. Mike said that the "overall project scope involved a lot of weekend work and late night calls to the carriers to execute these shipments. Steve’s efforts were far and above; a great effort here.”

.
Great efforts delivering internal Service Excellence!

I wanted to let you know how much of a pleasure it’s been working with Steven Picado. SABIC has been under the gun all year and we’ve moved a little over 1 million kgs of airfreight year to date; Of that about 500,000 kgs moved via the ORD gateway and via our service.

Communication has been top notch, Steve spent many evenings keeping the business up to date on critical moves. All of the cargo we tendered moved at or before the scheduled flights and the gateway’s relationships paid off in spades. In a two week period we moved close to 200MT flawlessly and below market pricing. This in my opinion was no accident.

The system worked in text book style. The business sold the cargo and the gateway got us great rates and ample carriers to capitalize on. Operations communicated with the gateways and the cargo was
executed on without excuses or service failures.

There is no magic here just hard work, dedication and real industry knowledge. It’s a pleasure and
privilege to get to work day in and day out with your team and to have a partner you can count on, especially in challenging times.

BDP Celebrates Excellent Global Support

Three Cheers for Global Service Excellence!

"Sharing some very nice comments and compliments on great job.... Thank you Team!"
Theresa Mc Cullin - Import Operations Administrator
E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company

In May, three BDP individuals were recognized with BDP Outstanding Customer Service - Team Dedication Awards for delivering outstanding global service and support to select DuPont businesses. The Recognized Service Excellence recipients include:
.
Brussels, BDP Belgium
Nancy Van de Perre - Branch Manager-Airfreight

BDP Philadelphia, US
Matt Campbell - Team Leader, DuPont Import Operations
Damien Reitano - Logistics, DuPont Import Operations

"Mission accomplished!

I have surprised Nancy and the entire air freight Brussels team yesterday afternoon to present the award. Nancy's spontaneous reaction was: 'I am so glad that our customer DuPont appreciates our effort to provide the best possible service; but the award is actually for the entire air freight team! A manager is just as good as his/her team!' Nancy announced to organize a happy hour with the team to spend the reward money together."

Mathias Wellhausen, Country Manager Beligum
BDP International NV
"Indeed a big surprise but I'm surely happy with the recognition!
I just love my job and BDP, plus the combination with a great team and the right spirit: That reflects to the customers. Thank you for the recognition."
.Nancy Van de Perre, Branch Manager-Airfreight - Brussels, BDP Belgium
.
"We share your thoughts, Nancy. It's always a pleasure working with you and working together between our offices to serve our customer! Congratulations!"
Theresa Garvey, Manager, Strategic Accounts - DuPont Operations - BDP Phildelphia, US

DuPont Testimonial
"Matt Campbell and Damien Reitano have done an outstanding job over the last two weeks with working to expedite clearance of urgent air shipments that had been previously been detained from leaving Europe due to the volcanic ash.
Based on shipping details provided by BDP Europe to Matt, after the flights were finally able to be booked, Matt and Damien followed through on the air arrival details, quickly submitting the Customs Entries and issuing the Delivery Orders after the Customs Releases came back. Some of these air arrivals were even split shipments, requiring the work to be done by Matt and Damien to be even more time consuming. Through all this, Matt and Damien have kept the Businesses informed of the shipment statuses.

Matt and Damian, Thanks for your proactive assistance!
Michael Sweeney - E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company

In addition to BDP on this side, Nancy Van de Perre, Branch Manager with BDP Belgium, located at Brussels Airport, has continually sent BDP, the Businesses, and myself email updates on flight schedules, problems, etc. Nancy even sent us an email note today commenting that though she was leaving for the day, she would continue to work from home over the weekend to keep us updated on flight details, booking problems, etc.

This has been a superior job performed by BDP on both sides of the globe."

BDP's Al Lipscomb, Manager, Strategic Accounts - on site DuPont (Wilmington, DE-US) nominated Michael as Recognized Service Excellence recipient on behalf of this testimonial-

Michael,

I have to say, you are fantastic to work with. Although unfortunate in many ways, the pace in which we all work these days is such that everything is a rush. Everything is URGENT. You've always been professional, supportive and very responsive regardless of the requests we've made. For that, I wanted to take a moment to extend a sincere "Thank You" on behalf of the DuPont Water Technologies team here in Rhode Island.

Donna Marie Dougherty and Eric Long - BDP Philadephia, USA

An Appreciation for Hard Work

[Donna and Eric] are great to work with, couldn't ask for a better team and I know that I would not be as successful as my supply chain managers and overseas counterparts think I am - if it weren't for them.
Ruby Ana Evans - E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company

Mike Williamson, Manager, DuPont Ocean Export nominated two BDP Philadelphia DuPont Ocean Export individuals as Recognized Service Excellence recipients for the trailing DuPont accolades. Ruby Ana Evans even took the time to include congratulatory clip art with her compliment!
  • Donna Marie Dougherty, Export Logistics Coordinator
  • Eric Long, Supply Chain Coordinator

"Many times during our work weeks, I request pre-bookings, documents to be corrected, vessel information, and documents to be chased. I have noticed that when I get results or responses from you both, I don't always respond with an acknowledgment. Please know that just because I don't respond with a thanks, doesn't mean anything, because I am very grateful of all the HARD work you do, trust me. I just don't want to clog your emails with replies to all.... so that being said, Thank you Eric and Donna for all your hard work! You are appreciated!"

BDP ISF 10+2 Program Recognition

Examples of Greatness
BDP Import Security Filing Program

On April 16, BDP Global Chief Operating Officer John M. Bolte presented thirteen (13) Recognized Service Excellence Awards as a formal 'thank you' to each lead contributor of the momentous BDP Import Security Filing (ISF) program. The ceremony took place at BDP Philadelphia where awards were presented to select BDP individuals by contribution area, such as ISF program development (IT), operations, and / or compliance. Further, awards were presented in person to each BDP Philadelphia recipient and by phone to the long-distance recipients based in BDP Norfolk and Houston-JFK.

John officially nominated the BDP ISF management team in March 2010 to "show how our people really do understand how to change the game." The Import Security and Additional Carrier Requirements ruling -nicknamed ISF 10+2- was officially mandated for all US Importers by the US Bureau of Customs and Border Compliance (CBP) in January 2009 with full enforcement beginning in January 2010, where BDP files the ISF on behalf of select US Importers of Record.

The complete story summarizing the project scope and BDP's innovation on the Information Technology and Operational fronts is featured in our company newsletter, DataDayClassic 2010 Issue 3, scheduled for email distribution on June 1. The story outlines BDP's efforts to successfully develop, implement, and manage our ISF 10+2 program. The article further details the regulatory aspects of each data requirement and the benefits of our in-house application.

Looking ahead, continuous education and training, coordinated through BDP University and customer webinars, are revered as critical components to our our long term success of managing data for current and prospective customers. In short, the BDP ISF program provides yet another layer of regulatory data; improving inbound shipment and commodity awareness for CBP, Importers of Record and their global supply chain partners.

Congratulations to each award recipient and Thank You for your exceptional contributions and achievements!
